Swords are primarily melee weapons for short-ranged combat. Their secondary function is to mine all kinds of “snappy” blocks quickly, including leaves, flowers, grass, wheat and many other blocks, especially plants. But this will reduce the sword's lifetime considerably.
There are 6 different kinds of swords, crafted from a stick and some wood, any kind of stone, steel ingots, bronze, mese crystals or diamonds, respectively.
The diamond sword is the strongest weapon in Minetest Game.
